Cost aside, the best type of sewing machine for home use is determined by your skill level and what you plan to sew. For light duty sewing by a beginner a machine like the Janome MOD-19 is an excellent choice.
With minimal experience a good even stitcher such as the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is a good choice. For the more experienced tailor the Janome HD1000 works well, especially with heavier fabrics.

Front loading bobbin cases are always located on the side of the sewing machine facing the user. Side loading bobbin cases are more rare on newer machines and are located below the needle plate.
Front loading bobbin cases can be used on side loading machines but side loading bobbin cases, whether removable or inset, cannot be used with front loading sewing machines.

Unless you plan to continue with the same sewing project at a later time it's best to clean up your workspace when done for the day.
